The 1st POP Science Congress will take place during the 9th ŚFN. The event will serve as a space for industry meetings and networking sessions for people involved in science communication, the professional organisation of events, and support for science popularisation processes.
The first edition of the Congress will take place from 5 to 7 December at the International Congress Centre. Future editions will be held annually. This marks the beginning of the POP Science cooperation network, aimed at developing a programme of joint initiatives, integrating dispersed tools, strengthening programme exchange, and enhancing the visibility of science communication specialists.
There are thousands of science communicators – and it is time for them to meet, get to know one another better, and discuss how to build, together, a knowledge-based society that places its trust in researchers. We will talk about initiatives that can be implemented over the next three years and that will strengthen the voice of science in the public sphere – including recommendations for systemic changes, citizen science projects, and ways of reaching audiences more effectively through shared tools.
The newly established POP Science network, coordinated by the University of Silesia in Katowice, will work in cooperation with the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Minister’s advisory team for science communication. The aim is to enhance communication competences within the academic community and to increase the visibility of ongoing science popularisation activities.
