The third edition of the OFF Science competition took place during the 4th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, where the amateur inventors and engineers working in their private garages, basements, and attics, could show the effects of their endeavours to a large festival audience. Three equal awards were presented.
All audience members visiting ŚFN at the International Congress Centre could see the 11 projects that qualified for the competition in the OFF Science Zone located at the connecting hall between International Congress Centre and Spodek Arena, and then pick their favourite one. The festival audience decided that the humanoid robot NEO designed by Kamil Kaliński, Tomasz Płóciennik and Filip Tomczyk was the most inspiring project.
The readers of Dziennik Zachodni daily chose Adam Dobek and Dariusz Dobek's electric bicycle as their favourite invention, while the Expert Committee (composed of Wiktor Niedzicki, Arkadiusz Gorzawski, PhD, Łukasz Lamża, PhD, and Tomasz Rożek, PhD) gave their award to Oskar Makowski's innovative model for biodegradation of polystyrene waste using Zophobas morio larvae.
The winners of the Review of Garage Inventions were announced and awarded by the General Director of ŚFN, Prof. Ryszard Koziołek and members of the Expert Committee.
Congratulations to the winners and authors of all projects that qualified for the competition!
