The Silesian Scientific Award (ŚNN) is presented as part of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE. It is awarded to researchers and artists, who considerably contribute to the development of science, possess remarkable artistic achievements, and promote Silesian science both nationally and internationally. The award may be granted for overall, lifetime achievements, or for achievements accomplished within two years preceding the year in which the award is presented.
All universities co-organising the ŚFN present this prestigious award. Each university nominates candidates from the pool of employees and doctoral students in accordance with their internal procedure, and the finalists are selected by the Award Committee. The Award Committee is composed of representatives of the universities co-organising the ŚFN. This year, Prof. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk, Vice-Rector for Science and Development of the Silesian University of Technology chairs the Award Committee.
The winners of the Silesian Scientific Award are presented with awards during the opening gala of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE.
