Discover New Knowledge on the ‘I Like Science: The Power of Experiments’ Stage

Ready for a scientific adventure that captures your attention from the very first moment? The ‘I Like Science: The Power of Experiments’ Stage is one you simply cannot miss during the 9th Silesian Science Festival Katowice! Explore the activities we have prepared for this Stage and find out which leading figures from the world of science you will meet there.

The ‘I Like Science: The Power of Experiments’ Stage is a unique space co-created with Tomasz Rożek, PhD, ambassador of ŚFN Katowice. Here, you will find discussions about the future, cutting-edge technologies, space, artificial intelligence, and many other fascinating topics.

Discuss, discover, and experiment!

Together with invited experts, the ‘I Like Science: The Power of Experiments’ Stage will guide you through questions such as:
is AI merely an experiment, or already part of our everyday life?
what important discoveries have we made by accident?
which human experiments have provoked the greatest ethical dilemmas?
why do we actually explore space?
have we already reached the limits of physics?
The programme of the Stage also includes artistic events, such as the ‘Sounds of Knowledge’ concert performed by the Silesian University of Technology Symphony Orchestra and the ‘Copernicus’s Lullabies’ performance.

Encounters with Outstanding Figures from the World of Science

An exceptional group of guests will share their knowledge and passion for science with you! Among them are:

As part of the first Polish technological and scientific mission, IGNIS, he spent over two weeks aboard the International Space Station.
● Mateusz Chrobok – an expert, educator, and practitioner in AI and cybersecurity, and a graduate of the Silesian University of Technology. He is the founder of the educational platform uczmnie.pl and co-creator of the highly regarded AI_Devs training programme. He shares his expertise and passion for modern technologies through a podcast and a YouTube channel entitled Mateusz Chrobok.
● Dr Mariusz Gogól, PhD – biologist, biochemist, and science communicator. He is the author and creator of numerous popular-science projects, including stand-up shows, workshops, lectures, and recruitment games based on scientific stories. He runs the series Biologicznie rzecz biorąc on Tomasz Rożek’s, PhD – I Like Science channel.
● Paweł Jedynak, PhD – biochemist, researcher at the Jagiellonian University, and member of the Science Advocates Association. He has written over 100 popular-science articles published, among others, in the monthly Wiedza i Życie. His academic work focuses on the molecular mechanisms controlling plant development.
● Krzysztof Kurdyła – specialist in space technologies, particularly the New Space phenomenon, and in the military and economic dimensions of the space race. He is responsible for space-related projects at the I Like Science Foundation.
● Anna Łosiak, PhD – planetary geologist and passionate science communicator. A graduate of the University of Warsaw and Michigan State University, she completed her PhD at the University of Vienna and has worked at the University of Exeter in the UK. She is currently employed at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Her research focuses on small impact craters on Earth and on geological processes shaping the surface of Mars.
● Aleksandra Przegalińska, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. – professor at Kozminski University in management sciences. Her research interests include artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning, and social robots.
● Agata Kołodziejczyk, PhD – neurobiologist and astrobiologist. She conducts research and engages in science communication through the forScience Foundation, the World Research Centre, and the private space agency Valles Marineris. As the first Polish woman at the European Space Agency, she developed, among other achievements, a groundbreaking solution for multi-module orbital telescopes.
● Dawid Myśliwiec, PhD – chemist, science communicator, author of popular-science books, and creator of the well-known YouTube channel ‘Uwaga! Naukowy Bełkot’. For more than a decade he has worked to promote scientific understanding and combat misinformation. His channel features nearly 500 videos with a total of 150 million views.
● Ada Florentyna Pawlak, PhD – technology anthropologist, lawyer, art historian, and university lecturer. Her interests include the social implications of artificial intelligence and transhumanism.
