The 8th Silesian Science Festival Katowice will be a space to present the key results of works on the Green Science Zone, the ECSK 2024 project that is to create green space by the Rawa majorly at the campus of the University of Silesia in Katowice. The Zone is to support the residents’ wellbeing and foster social aspect of life in the region. Come and see for yourselves how science, ecology and collective actions may shape the future!

The meeting ‘Green Science Zone – Strategies of the Future’ will sum up an important stage of works on the Green Science Zone covering: 

     developing the report entitled ‘Well-being in Design: Innovations and Health at the University of Silesia Campus’; 

     expert analyses of spaces at the USil campus that outlined guidelines for ‘Spatial Development Strategy for the University of Silesia’s Katowice campus for 2025-2035’, a masterplan considering sustainable development in the space between buildings.

Completing this stage may pave a way to introduce real changes in the space of the University of Silesia campus.

The meeting will kick off with two activities: first, Aneta Moczkowska (the project leader of the Green Science Zone and the Plenipotentiary of the Rector for the Science Zone) will introduce the idea behind the Green Science Zone and present actions undertaken throughout the last three years. Afterwards, Natalia Olszewska (Impronta team leader) will talk about the report ‘Well-being in Design: Innovations and Health on the University of Silesia Campus’ she co-authored. This will be followed by presentations related to the expert analysis of documents and materials in the field of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture, while the co-creator of the project, Michał Sikorski, will present the results of work on the ‘Spatial Development Strategy for the University of Silesia’s Katowice campus for 2025-2035’. The meeting will be complemented by a research service that involves developing recommendations along with a concept for small architecture solutions in the University of Silesia’s Katowice campus space, authored by Paweł Grobelny, PhD. The will also be taken by Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, the General Director of the Festival and USil Rector.

The meeting ‘Green Science Zone – Strategies of the Future’ will take place on Sunday, 8 December, at 1.10 p.m., Main Stage, Multifunctional Hall of the International Congress Centre.
