Time to mark the dates in your diaries! On 5–7 December 2026, we’ll be gathering for the 10th anniversary edition of the Silesian Science Festival Katowice. We have three days ahead of us packed with knowledge, inspiration and encounters with people whose hearts beat faster at the thought of science. This year, we’ll be looking at science through the prism of ‘INTELLIGENCES’ – definitely in the plural!

We’re celebrating our tenth anniversary!

Ahead of us lies the 10th anniversary edition of the Silesian Science Festival Katowice – three days of encounters, questions and discovering science from various perspectives.

From 5 to 7 December 2026, the International Congress Centre in Katowice will once again bring together scientists and anyone who wants to learn more.

Science will step out of laboratories and lecture theatres, becoming a space for conversation, experimentation, fun and shared reflection.

INTELLIGENCES – because one is not enough

The theme of the 10th Silesian Science Festival Katowice is ‘INTELLIGENCES’. The use of the plural form is no accident.

For a long time, we associated intelligence primarily with human beings: their ability to reason, learn, create and solve problems. Today, however, we are increasingly discovering that the very concept of intelligence defies simple definitions.

Is intelligence confined solely to the human mind? What role do emotions, the senses and relationships with others play in thinking? Can a collective be intelligent? What can we say about the extraordinary forms of cooperation observed in the natural world? And finally – what is the intelligence of a machine that learns, processes vast amounts of information, creates images and texts, and is increasingly penetrating new areas of our everyday lives?

During the 10th Katowice Science Festival, there will of course be plenty of discussion about artificial intelligence, but we want to take a much broader view. We’ll be exploring human and non-human intelligences, individual and collective, natural and man-made. We’ll be asking about their capabilities and limitations, their similarities and differences, and what studying them can teach us about ourselves.
