One of over twenty stages of the 8th Silesian Science Festival Katowice will be the Rawa Valley Stage, which will include, among others, the Fulbright Stage programme. Thanks to cooperation with the Fulbright Commission, we will present the scientific achievements of scholarship holders of this prestigious programme.

The Fulbright Stage is organised in cooperation with the Polish-American Fulbright Commission – an independent non-governmental organisation whose goal is to support academic and cultural exchange between Poland and the United States. The stage will feature speeches and presentations by both Polish and American Fulbright scholarship holders; it will also be an opportunity to meet Silesian Fulbrighters. During meetings and lectures, guests will talk about their research, scholarship stays and how their scientific experiences in the United States influenced their careers.

The Fulbright Stage speakers will include: Prof. Lynn W. Zimmerman, Anna Fiń, PhD, Kasper Hanus, PhD, Cherise Northcutt, PhD, Zoey Grant, Stephen Proski, Devon Stackonis, Michał Choiński, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. of the Jagiellonian University and Dominika Wojcieszek. As part of the speeches, we will hear, among others, about, the Anthropocene from an archaeological perspective, migration photography and knowledge production, behind-the-scenes work in the New Yorker archives, the translation of Witold Gombrowicz’s works, workshop graphics in response to the mining industry, and the relationship between artificial intelligence and education. We will also watch a performance of the Cieszyn Brass Band of the University of Silesia led by Karol Pyka.

Events related to the stage will also be accompanied by a concert ‘Californian Impressions’ performed by Andrzej Ślązak, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. of the Jan Kochanowski University and Wojciech Stępień, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. of the Academy of Music.
