At the 8th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, Bartłomiej Kluska, PhD, will deliver two lectures:
● How video games are dying. The problem of preserving the legacy of electronic entertainment
The lecture will take us on a journey into the video game past and will reveal to us the world that nowadays might be difficult to access. We will take a look at the phenomena of sequels, remakes, and reboots, and discuss the issues of availability of old games and closed worlds.
● Video games as a mature medium
Through the last half-century, electronic entertainment underwent rapid evolution, from table tennis on the screen to a rich, full-fledged medium. Let’s think about what motivates the creation of yet another adaptation and multiverse, take a look at the evolution in the significance of plot in video games and the ways of presenting it, and go a bit beyond the present moment to consider how AI and VR might influence video games.
