In the workshop area of the Polish Pavilion, scientists from the University of Silesia, who are co-creators of the Science Festival Katowice, will conduct inspiring workshops, including:

‘Physics, music, Silesia – we Build, we Play, we have fun!’ – an event where science meets culture! Build your own instrument, learn the secrets of sound and rhythm, and play and dance to Silesian melodies. We will use everyday objects to create extraordinary sounds!

‘From coal to graphene – a Silesian journey into the world of science’ – discover the fascinating properties of carbon and its modern applications! Find out how this ubiquitous element is changing the future of technology.

‘Seepage of water through different types of substrates’ – experiment and see how water seeps through different materials. Learn about the importance of water retention and how simple solutions can help protect the environment.

‘How much electricity passes through water?’ – find out how the conductivity of water with different salinity changes! Use a state-of-the-art sensor that can be fitted into a float and a microscope to see how changes invisible to the naked eye affect the properties of ordinary water. Experiment, measure, and learn the basics of electrochemistry in practice!

Participants will not only be able to learn about science, but above all try their hand at experiments under the guidance of experts. In turn, a team of lecturers from the School of Polish Language and Culture of the University of Silesia will introduce visitors to the intricacies of the Polish language.

The University of Silesia will carry out promotional activities as part of Poland’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai thanks to the NAWA initiative, which, in partnership with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), enabled 13 Polish universities and research institutes to participate in the programme ‘International Scientific Event at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka’.
