The 9th Silesian Science Festival Katowice has a few novelties, for instance the ‘Science Behind the Scenes’. This space will be dedicated to unveiling the true colours of research efforts – no filters added. See what you can expect!
At the Science Behind the Scenes, young researchers and PhD candidates will be invited to hear what the biographies leave out: the doubts, the detours, the pressure, and the small—but crucial—wins that build extraordinary scientific careers. You will see that the path of science is full of twists and turns, trials and errors, all united by one thing – the passion for discoveries.
It’s the place where things that count the most are honesty, practical guidance and community of experience. Because no one is alone in science, and everyone sometimes needs to see that you are not alone in facing challenges, regardless of your career stage.
The programme of the ‘Science Behind the Scenes’ includes:
an opening lecture by Christian Welzel, PhD, who will give advice on how to plan a scientific career,
a debate: ‘Stress, Grants and Academic Life – How Not to Lose Yourself in Science’;
inspiring talks with scientists: ‘Stories from Laboratories and Grants, or First-Hand Inspirations’;
networking and one-to-one discussions.
