Opuścimy sale wykładowe i przeniesiemy się w przestrzeń miasta, aby podczas spaceru po śródmieściu Katowic zwrócić uwagę na budynki, postaci, miejsca pamięci na styku kultur – polskiej, niemieckiej, żydowskiej (i innych). Pragniemy zrekonstruować nie tylko związki kulturowe, wskazać miejsca i wybrane stacje życia najważniejszych literatów i ludzi kultury związanych z Katowicami, ale także przywołać wybrane karty z życiorysu miasta. Kierujemy uwagę na zabytki architektoniczne powstałe między 1850 a 1922 rokiem oraz na miejsca typowe dla modernistycznej zabudowy okresu międzywojennego prezentujące różnorodność użytkową i funkcjonalną. Leaving the lecture halls, we move into the city space to pay attention to buildings, figures, places of memory on the border of (not only) Polish, German and Jewish cultures during a walk around the centre of Katowice. We want to reconstruct not only cultural contacts, point to places and selected stages of life of the most important writers and people of culture associated with Katowice, but also recall selected pages from the city's biography. We draw attention to architectural monuments built between 1850 and 1922 and to places typical of the modernist architecture of the interwar period, presenting a diversity of uses and functions.
