We invite you to a fascinating story about the little-known history of oil extraction in the Carpathians and Galicia. The lecture will be devoted to the documentary project "Dream of Black Gold", which explores the remains of the former oil industry along the Carpathian-Galician Oil Route. Unlike the Silesian mines, which have been widely documented by photographers, the history of Carpathian oil remains in the shadows. During the lecture, we will present a visual story about the region's disappearing oil heritage. We will discover fascinating traces of history – natural oil flows, the remains of former mines, and the contemporary practices of local people who still use oil for everyday purposes. It is a story about the relationship between man, industry and nature, about transience and memory. The lecture is not only a documentation of the material heritage, but also a reflection on the contrast between the collective memory of the Silesian industry and the forgotten history of the Galician oil industry.
