Countdown to 4. ŚFN KATOWICE!

The  press conference announcing the 4th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE was held on 22 November 2019 at the International Congress Centre in Katowice.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the universities that co-organise ŚFN: University of Silesia, Medical University of Silesia, Silesian University of Technology, Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, University of Bielsko-Biała and Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa. The representatives of Katowice (host city) and Metropolis GZM (co-host), as well as ambassador of ŚFN – Dr. Tomasz Rożek, were also present. The guests were welcomed by the General Director of the Festival, Vice-Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, PhD.

The conference began with the premiere of the spot promoting 4. ŚFN KATOWICE, and then each participant presented the contribution of their institution to the Festival programme. Another subject of the meeting was the novelties of the upcoming edition, such as POP Science competition and new space arrangement solutions. Prof. Koziołek also presented the list of Festival special guests, including Seth Shostak (one of the founders of SETI - programme searching for extra-terrestrial intelligence), Marc Elsberg (science-fiction writer), Daniel Tammet (autistic savant, polyglot with above-average linguistic and memory skills), Robert Zubrin (one of the founders of Mars Society - organisation promoting the settlement of Mars). Among the Polish guests are Prof. Jerzy Bralczyk, Marcin Popkiewicz, Zbigniew Libera and Edwin Bendyk. The conference included the presentation of exhibition booths referring to the programme of the 4th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, which particularly engaged the invited school group.

The 4th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE will take place on 25-27 January 2020 in the Stanisław Wyspiański Silesian Theatre and International Congress Centre in Katowice.
