POP Science

How long does it take for the results of scientific research or published book to be disseminated? It is difficult to provide a clear answer to this question, but science communicators definitely reduce this time. You can meet them during the Silesian Science Festival, but also on a daily basis, when we can listen to them in radio broadcasts, during lectures at schools or local events, and watch their performances on global video websites.

The effects of work of science communicators also include blogs and websites. We would like to gather in one place at least some of these numerous forms and channels of science communication, as well as distinguish and honour selected projects and people. This is the aim of the POP Science competition, which consists of the following five categories:

  • Video blog
  • Blog or website
  • Radio broadcast or podcast
  • Think globally, act locally – scientist and/or lecturer from a university in the Silesian Voivodeship
  • Think globally, act locally – resident of the Silesian Voivodeship

Candidates to participate in the POP Science competition should have been registered until 25 November 2019. Thank you very much for all submissions! The list of official nominations will be announced by the competition jury at the beginning of December. It will also be possible then to vote for your favourites.
