The fourth edition of Silesian Science Festival Katowice has already started. Let us remind you about some basic logistic issues related to travel and access to and from ICC building, and getting around the Festival.
FESTIVAL OPENING HOURS
International Congress Centre in Katowice will be available for the Festival audience from 10:00 to 19:00 on Sunday and from 8:00 to 18:30 on Monday.

CAR PARKS
There are several large car parks near ICC: in the Culture Zone near NOSPR or Superjednostka, but they may not be sufficient for everybody, therefore, we suggest going to ŚFN by public transport.
ORGANISED GROUPS
On Monday, 27 January, bus drivers will be able to drop off organised school groups on the side of al. Korfantego. Then the drivers should look for the parking space on gravel car parks at ul. Olimpijska (car park with the entrance from ul. Skrzypka) and along ul. Góreckiego, which will be provided for school buses. Organised groups will be able to get on the buses on the side of ul. Olimpijska (near NOSPR, on the other side of the place where groups were dropped off). Bus drivers must remember to travel on the route: ul. KORFANTEGO – ul. OLIMPIJSKA – ul. ROŹDZIEŃSKIEGO. A failure to comply with this rule may cause a traffic jam.
Participation in Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE is absolutely free of charge! However, you need to register for some of the events.
Organised groups need to register to enter the ICC building. In the case of individual persons and informal groups, there is no such requirement. A majority of Festival activities are generally available and do not require earlier registration. Registration is required for some of the events: this is applicable for organised groups, individual persons and informal groups.

Organised groups visiting ŚFN on Monday were divided in such a way that the youngest children may enter from the side of ul. Olimpijska (1-3rd grade), whereas the older youth will enter through Spodek (gates nos. 2 and 3).
Individuals entering the ICC building from the side of ul. Olimpijska and NOSPR may use the cloak-rooms located in the so-called Upper Hall (near the entrances to the Main Stage). The Festival participants who enter through Spodek should choose the cloak-rooms in Spodek.
On Monday 27 January, the cloak-rooms in Spodek will be used only for school organised groups.
ICC, as a modern public utility building is adjusted for people with disabilities. To reach different storeys where Festival activities take place, people with disabilities may use the lifts. Such persons may enter ICC through the entrance from the side of Pl. Antalla i Sławika (from the side of Spodek).
Deaf people may ask a sign language interpreter for help – please report such need to Centrum Dowodzenia ŚFN (ŚFN Command Centre), which is located near the main information point near the Main Stage in the Main Hall.
At the Festival information points, all guests, speakers and other participants of the event will receive all necessary help related to organisation of the event. They will be located in the following areas:
The main medical point, where you can report any risks, accidents and other situations that require medical intervention, will be located in the main hall of ICC (near the cloak-room, between entrances B and C in the Main Hall). If needed, medical suport will be provided on an ongoing basis in the whole Festivak area – do dyspozycji będą four mobile medical patrols and ambulance with a doctor will be available. Qualified guard company will work in ICC during the Festival.
RELAXATION ROOM
We have prepared a relaxation room (room no. 5 in the conference hall zone) for everyone who wants to take a break from the Festival noise. It will also be a friendly space for people with autism. Please respect all users of this space.
You can leave ICC building through one entrance from the side of ul. Olimpijska and exit into Pl. Antalla i Sławika, as well as gate no. 5 through Spodek.
The 4th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE is organised by: University of Silesia in Katowice (leader and author of the project), City of Katowice (host city), as well as Metropolis GZM and Marshall Office of the Silesian Voivodeship (co-hosts). The event is co-organised by: Silesian University of Technology, Medical University of Silesia, Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa, Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, University of Bielsko-Biała (for the first time) and Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.
