Polish Science Day – top 10 lectures from the 5th ŚFN

On 19 February we celebrate Polish Science Day. On this occasion, we have prepared a list of the most interesting lectures, which took place last October during the 5th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, and which can now be accessed and listened to on the ŚFN website under the “Brainary - library for the brain” tab.

We recommend ten lectures presented by Polish researchers and science communicators:

• “Bankowa in Katowice - in the past and now” by Aneta Borowik, PhD, from the University of Silesia,


• “What is a robot doing in the cinema?” by Małgorzata Cekiera, PhD, Head of the KOSMOS Cinema in Katowice,


 

• “Discourses of transhumanism and artificial intelligence. mythical imagination in the realities of modern technology” by Ada Florentyna Pawlak from the University of Lodz,


• “Closer to the stars” by Milena Ratajczak, PhD, from the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw,


 

• “Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) - simulation of conditions on Mars” by Natalia Zalewska from the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences.


 

• “How to reach a destination?” by Łukasz Dawidowski, PhD, from the University of Silesia.


 

• “Robots to work” by Wiktor Niedzicki, science journalist and communicator, author of the iconic programme “Laboratorium” and ŚFN ambassador,


 

• “How do we change the climate??” by Tomasz Rożek, PhD, science journalist and communicator, University of Silesia graduate and ŚFN ambassador,


 

• “Order and chaos. The rhetoric of looking” by Michał Rusinek, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof from the Jagiellonian University,

• “Science during the pandemic - ups and downs” by Prof. Wojciech Szczeklik from the Jagiellonian University Medical College,

These are only some of the multimedia materials available in “Brainary - library for the brain”. Other lectures recorded during the previous editions of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE will be successively added.
