Transform4Europe Week at the University of Silesia

Over 350 people from seven European universities met during the special event which was Transform4Europe Week taking place from 9 to 13 May in Katowice. The event was organised by the University of Silesia – founder and leader of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE.

Over the five days of Transform4Europe Week, participants created a truly living, international campus. It was an excellent opportunity to know each other better, spend some time together, and participate in numerous activities.

On Monday 9 May at 6 p.m., the inaugural ceremony of Transform4Europe Week - Europe Day took place in the building of the Silesian Parliament. Feel free to watch the video broadcast from the event.

The event programme included many open events: an astronomy show with live musical accompaniment, a debate entitled "The challenges for science in Europe in the 21st century", and an integration meeting for all members of the alliance. A detailed schedule can be accessed HERE.


As part of the Transform4Europe alliance, the University of Silesia together with six foreign higher education institutions forms a prestigious European University. The universities have got together to conduct joint scientific research at the highest level and educate young people within international study programmes. They will also create a common multilingual campus in order to take care of the future of their own regions, countries and entire Europe.

"Transform4Europe – T4E: The European University for Knowledge Entrepreneurs” project is a challenge that we have undertaken together with the employees, doctoral students and students of the following universities: Saarland University (consortium leader, Germany), University of Alicante (Estonia), Estonian Academy of Arts (Bulgaria), St. Kliment Ohridski Sofia University (Italy), University of Trieste and Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania).
