For centuries, mathematics has been causing us problems by requiring us to perform difficult and complex calculations. Multiplying three-digit numbers quickly and correctly is not easy, and few people can do it mentally. Today, computers come to our aid, for which performing complex operations is not a problem. But how did people cope before their invention? During the lecture, I will present various methods that help us count, and I will also describe the operation of devices that made it easier for us, such as the abacus, the slide rule, and others.
