Experiments are not only the domain of laboratories and sterile workrooms. The wild forest can also become an arena of experimentation. During the meeting, I will talk about one of the oldest wildlife laboratories: the oak forests on the Swedish island of Gotland. How can you find out where birds get the yellow color of their bright feathers? Are female birds ready for climate change – and how can we test this experimentally? Do bluegills have fashion taste? We will reveal these and other secrets during the lecture.
