Is there a common voice of the film generation? To what extent are contemporary filmmakers, when searching for their own cinematic language, inspired by the experiences of their masters? How much has Polish cinema changed over the last three decades and which aspects of the world around us most fascinate young filmmakers? We invite you to talk with lecturers and graduates of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice: Prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz, Dean; Piotr Domalewski, graduate and lecturer at the Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice, and Natalia Koniarz, PhD candidate at the Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice. Prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz, is a graduate of the University of Silesia, where she received her doctoral and postdoctoral degrees from the Faculty of Social Sciences. She represents the discipline of political science and has scientific achievements in the field of media studies. In 1996-2016 she served as vice-dean and dean of the Faculty of Radio and Television. She heads the Department of Media Management and Organization of Film and Television Production, implementing scientific projects in the field of new media. She is a member of the Senate Committee for the Development of the University of Silesia, and of the Budget and Finance Committee, which she chairs. In 2001-2005 she was a member of the Program Council of Polish Radio SA, in 2003-2010 she was the chairwoman of the Artistic Council of the Silesian Theatre. Piotr Domalewski a- film director and actor. He began his adventure with cinema as a student of the Theatre Academy in Białystok, and also studied at the State Higher School of Theatre in Kraków. His feature debut, "Silent Night," won 22 awards, including five Golden Lions and nine Eagles, including Best Film, and the PSC Award for Best Cinematography for cinematographer Piotr Sobociński Jr. He is the director of such films as "Jak najdalej stąd" (As Far As It Gets) (2020), which received an Eagle award for, among others, best cinematography for Piotr Sobociński Jr., and an individual award for best screenplay and acting debut for Zofia Stafiej. His latest feature film, "Hiacynt" (2021), received the Golden Clapper for the longest-applauded film at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia. The feature series "Sexify" (2021), directed by him, was among the TOP10 most popular series on Netflix, leading the ranking even in countries such as India, Lebanon and Jamaica, and in most countries it reached the Top3 (Brazil, Russia, Israel, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine) or Top5 (Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Spain, Sweden, Argentina). Natalia Koniarz (born 1996) – director, PhD student and lecturer at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. Author of the films “Tama” (Dam) and “Pocztówki znad krawędzi” (Postcards from the Edge), which have won awards at Polish and international festivals. In 2025, her feature-length documentary debut, Silver, won six awards at the 65th Krakow Film Festival.
