Film zrealizowany podczas ekspedycji Uniwersytetu Śląskiego na Spitsbergen w 2009 roku prezentuje motywacje prowadzonych badań i pracy w Arktyce. Ukazuje współczesne oblicze polarnych pasji naukowców, studentów i pracowników technicznych Polskiej Stacji Polarnej Hornsund. Większość osób, które przyjechały tu choć raz, regularnie wraca, ponieważ po powrocie do domu odkrywa u siebie objawy tzw. gorączki polarnej. Jak się okazuje, jest ona nieuleczalna… Po projekcji filmu zapraszamy na krótki konkurs z nagrodami z pytaniami na temat obejrzanych filmów oraz na spotkanie z Katarzyną Dąbkowską, reżyserką filmów dokumentalnych (m.in. Gorączka polarna, Między światami – film o samobójstwach wśród Inuitów w Arktyce Kanadyjskiej). Reżyserka ukończyła Szkołę Filmową im. Krzysztofa Kieślowskiego Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach oraz filmoznawstwo na Uniwersytecie Łódzkim.

It shows the contemporary face of the polar passions of scientists, students and technical staff of the Hornsund Polar Station.
